Many pregnancy supplements have synthetic folic acid. This is not good enough and for those with MTHFR gene variants, it can block the uptake of the activated form. Methylfolate needs to be available to the baby early in the pregnancy for the healthy development of the midline - think spina bifida, cleft palate.

  • Striving to achieve an optimum weight for pregnancy can help so much. Fertility problems can be attributed to over and underweight equally.
